Press Statement
The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The Union Minister of State for defence production, Hiren Pathak and the health minister of Gujarat, Ashok Bhatt, are among those against whom charges have been framed for murder and rioting in a court in Ahmedabad. The charges relate to an incident in 1985.
In the interest of the proper conduct of the case, it is necessary that they resign immediately. It is shameful that the BJP leadership is trying to justify their continuance in office even after proceedings have been launched against them.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) demands that the two ministers immediately resign from their positions.
