The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) reaffirms that the grounds on which this law was enacted need not be re-examined. The Central Government must respond to the Supreme Court seeking its views in a firm affirmation of the Places of Worship Act, 1991.

An Ill-Conceived Order
The order of the Supreme Court on the three farm laws and the farmers struggle against them is ill-conceived and one-sided.
Smt. Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member of CPI(M) wrote to Shri Piyush Goayal, Minister of Railways on the Supreme Court judgment of August 31, directing removal of all jhuggi clusters on railway land.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) considers the provisions for reservations and promotions as being obligatory upon all states and Union territories of the Union of India.
The Court judgment has itself stated that the demolition of the Babri Masjid in December 1992 was a violation of law. This was a criminal act and an assault on the secular principle. The cases pertaining to the demolition should be expedited and the guilty punished.
This move by the Centre is clearly aimed at appeasing the Sangh Parivar which is demanding immediate construction of the temple at all costs. Obviously, all these moves are being orchestrated keeping the impending Lok Sabha elections in mind.
The Polit Bureau demands that an Ordinance be immediately promulgated so that the situation existing prior to the SC judgment is restored and the sense of insecurity of these communities about their constitutional rights is addressed.
The President of India must immediately intervene to ensure that the laid out procedure is followed and the appointment of Justice Joseph be cleared.
