Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

On Samajwadi Party's Position

The Samajwadi Party and its leader, Shri Mulayam Singh Yadav, have made a number of unwarranted and unfounded charges against the CPI(M) at its National Executive meeting.  On the presidential election, it is well known that the Samajwadi Party scuttled the prospects of a common candidate being put up by the opposition after having gone unitedly to  request Shri K.R. Narayanan to stand for the  Presidentship.  It is equally well-known that the leadership of the Samajwadi Party took positions on various issues in Parliament which bailed out  the BJP-led government.

It will be good if the  Samajwadi Party pursues its efforts to fight  the BJP as its political resolution has declared.  The CPI(M) on its part will do everything to see that there is a united fight given by  all the secular and democratic forces.
