The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the unilateral US military aggression against Iraq. Reports suggest that the United States of America has mounted the biggest air strike on Iraq in the last four years. Hundreds of US and British warplanes bombarded, according to Iraqi authorities, civilian areas in Western Iraq.
Defying the almost universal disapproval of such US military aggressiveness, save except for Britain and Israel, USA has embarked on such a course. The United Nation’s Security Council must immediately intervene to stop such US imperialist aggressiveness.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) calls upon the government of India to take an active initiative and join the majority of the world’s governments in denouncing this aggression and mounting a campaign against USA’s State-sponsored terrorism.
