Press
Statement
The
Polit
Bureau
of
the
Communist
Party
of
India
(Marxist)
has
issued
the
following
statement:
Take
Firm
Stand
On
US
War
Threat
The
all-parties
meeting
convened
by
the
government
on
March
10,
2003
has
made
it
clear
that
the
Vajpayee
government
is
not
prepared
to
take
a
categorical
stand
opposing
the
US
threat
of
war
on
Iraq.
It
is
unfortunate
and
deplorable
that
the
Prime
Minister
still
talks
of
pursuing
a
"middle
path"
which
is
just
an
euphemism
for
tacit
connivance
with
the
totally
illegal
US
plan
for
aggression.
This
explains
the
refusal
to
adopt
a
resolution
on
the
issue
in
Parliament.
The
Polit
Bureau
of
the
CPI(M)
demands
that
the
BJP-led
government
heed
public
opinion
and
views
of
all
the
political
parties
and
declare
that
the
US
should
not
take
recourse
to
war
and
Iraq's
national
sovereignty
be
protected.
The
Polit
Bureau
appeals
to
all
democratic
forces
and
sections
of
the
people
to
step
up
the
anti-war
movement
and
launch
powerful
protests
in
case
the
USA
embarks
on
a
criminal
war
of
aggression
against
Iraq.
