Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) congratulates the people of West Bengal for reposing their faith in the Left Front and electing its candidates in a majority of the municipalities for which elections were held recently. The Left Front has won in 49 of the  79 municipalities that went to the polls. The Left Front has significantly improved upon its 2000 position when it won 37 municipalities.

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) is confident that this victory will lead to the further consolidation of the Left forces in West Bengal.
