Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

On Earthquake Damage

The earthquake which has affected parts of Pakistan and India has caused widespread damage and loss of life. The brunt of the earthquake in India has been borne in Jammu & Kashmir.  There  are reports of  extensive damage in Uri town, Baramulla and other places.  The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt sympathy to the  families of all those who have lost their relatives.   The Central Government should immediately organise emergency relief and rehabilitation measures in the state. 

In Pakistan, it is reported that the destruction caused by the quake has led to heavy casualties with hundreds dead.    The Polit Bureau extends its heartfelt sympathy to the people of the affected areas  in Pakistan who have suffered a grievous loss in lives and property.
