statement: On Nepal RepressionThe
Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the new round of repression
unleashed by the King’s regime in Nepal.
On the eve of the mass rally for the restoration of democracy called by
the seven-parties front, leaders of various political parties have been
arrested. The General Secretary of
the CPN(UML) Madhav Kumar Nepal and the President of the Nepali Congress G. P.
Koirala have been placed under house arrest.
Scores of activists are
still being rounded up. There
is no doubt whatsoever that the King will not allow any democratic political activities. The
CPI(M) is confident that the people of Nepal will respond in a big way to the
call for ending the autocratic regime. |
