The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

On Attack On Srinagar Rally

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the attack on a Youth Congress rally in Srinagar on  May 21 which killed seven persons and injured 20 others.  This terrorist attack by the extremist groups has been timed on the eve of the roundtable  meeting on Jammu & Kashmir to be attended by the  Prime Minister at Srinagar.  These groups are against any political settlement through peaceful negotiations.  It is meant to also warn the separatist political organisations not to participate in a dialogue with the government.

The Polit Bureau appeals to the people and all political forces of Jammu & Kashmir not to be deterred by such attacks.   The state administration has to take all necessary steps to prevent an escalation of such attacks in the coming days.
