Press Statement

The leaders of the UNPA met Prakash Karat, General Secretary of the CPI(M) today. They discussed the issue of the candidature for the presidential election.

Prakash Karat informed the leaders that the CPI(M) has already decided to extend support to the UPA nominee, Smt. Pratiba Patil. In view of this, the matter cannot be considered.
