Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

On Ludhiana Blast

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the bomb blast in a cinema hall in Ludhiana which has killed six people and injured 25. The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt sympathies to the families of those who have been affected by the blast.

This terrorist attack coming within a few days of the blast in the Ajmer Sharif Dargah shows that there is a concerted bid by the terrorist network to wreak violence and havoc around the country.

It is not sufficient to try and track down the culprits after such attacks are mounted. It is more important to identify and uncover the terrorist groups and networks operating within the country and their links abroad. The intelligence and security agencies will have to be geared up for this task.
