The leaders in meeting expressed concern over the series of incidents of suicides committed by debt-ridden farmers in the state. During the last one month six farmers committed suicide- 4 in Ranchi District and one each in Lohardaga & Gumla districts.

Left parties have demanded compensation for the aggrieved families, debt waiver for all farmers and increase in Minimum Support Price (MSP) for the peasants.

It has been decided that a dharna will be held at the state assembly on the 10th of August in protest against the farmers suicides, deteriorating law & order situation, rising intolerance and series of incidences of communal violence and pro-corporate amendments in CNT_SPT Acts.
