Heavy rains and floods have caused largescale damage in the entire state of Kerala. All the districts and all the 1,654 villages of the state are affected. In the current spell of rains, landslides and floods alone 65 people have been officially reported killed till August 15, while 265 people are reported killed during this monsoon.
In utter disregard of the Jammu & Kashmir government’s earlier memorandum to the Central Government regarding grant of Rs 44000 crore as rehabilitation package, the Central Government has now announced a mere Rs. 1667 crore.
