Communist Party of India (Marxist) 19th Congress Anil Biswas Nagar Coimbatore March 29 to April 3, 2008
GREETINGS FROM THE JAPANESE COMMUNIST PARTY
On the occasion of the 19th Congress of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), we congratulate you with our warm greetings of solidarity.
Since the victory in the 2004 Lok Sabha election, under the new conditions that enable your party to exert a greater influence on Indian national politics, you have been making energetic efforts for maintaining India’s independent foreign policy, opposing neo-liberal economic policies, and achieving self-reliant development of the Indian economy and the uplifting of the people’s living standards.
Just before this congress, you won the election in Tripura state for the sixth time with overwhelming support from the people. You have successfully produced pioneering achievements in terms of people-centered governance and industrial development not only in Tripura, but also in West Bengal for an uninterrupted 31 year period and Kerala, where the first Communist state government was established 51 years ago. We hope that your congress will be an opportunity for further progress in national as well as state politics.
In our country, the Japanese Communist Party is fighting for overthrowing old politics which place priority on the United States and the profit of the business circles and big corporations, and for removing the U.S. military bases in Japan. We also oppose the neo-liberal economic policies, which are responsible for deepening poverty, the widening gap between the rich and the poor and the reduction in social welfare spending. We are making further efforts to defend and enrich the theory and principles of scientific socialism.
In Asia and Latin America, communities of nations for peace embodying the spirit of the United Nations Charter are growing vigorously. In this situation, we are looking forward to strengthening our friendship and solidarity, both of us working in Asia, in order to advance the task of establishing an international order for peace as well instituting a democratic economic order.
Japanese Communist Party Central Committee.
