The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly protests the steep hike effected in the prices of kerosene and LPG cylinders by the BJP-led NDA government.
The government has more than doubled the price of kerosene sold through the public distribution system and made a 30 percent hike in the price of domestic liquefied petroleum gas cylinder. The increase in the prices of LPG and kerosene will have disastrous effect on the life of the common people.
The allies of the BJP should make it clear whether they endorse such a harmful measure. The government must immediately withdraw the price increase. The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) calls upon the people to protest against this anti-people step of the Central government.
