Thousands Protest in Punjab

Thousands of Left Parties workers and supporters organized protest dharnas and demonstrations at all the district headquarters in Punjab demanding dismissal of the Ministers & Chief Ministers of  BJP involved in scams like Vyapam and IPL. The protesters also demanded immediate settlement of the 15 points Demand Charter of the Left Parties.
The  leaders of Left Parties met the Deputy Commissioners in deputation at all the district headquarters after the protest dharna  and submitted memorandums.
The  State Secretaries Comrades Hardev Arshi (CPI), Charan Singh Virdi ( CPI(M), Mangat Ram Pasla  (CPM Punjab ) & Gurmit Singh Bakhtupur (CPI(ML) Liberation ) addressed the  dharnas at various centres.
The leaders condemned the deafening silence of Mr. Narendra Modi, Prime Minister which shows his support to the wrong doings of his ministers and Chief ministers of the BJP involved in scams. They expressed serious concern over more than 48 deaths of witnesses /accused  related to VYAPAM Scam in Madhya Pradesh where more than 2000 people are in jail. They pointed out that the Lalitgate scandal of Rajasthan Chief Minister is another eye opener for the people. They demanded immediate dismissal of all tainted Ministers and Chief Ministers.
Speakers at various places also demanded immediate settlement of the 15 points Demand Charter of Left parties containing burning demands of the people of Punjab which include allotment of 10 marla plots to houseless people, Rs 15 thousand per month as minimum wage, enhancement of old age/widow pension to Rs 3000 per month, round the year work to MGNREGA workers and Rs 500 as daily wage, implementation of Swaminathan recommendations for fixing Minimum Support Price ( MSP)  for agricultural produce , filling up of vacancies in government departments, control over sand and other mafias in the state, stop dismantling of FCI, unemployment allowance , immediate arrest of political leaders having nexus with drug mafias etc etc.
It may be mentioned here that the state leaders of Left parties had staged a dharna in front of Chief Ministers residence at Chandigarh on 8th July, 2015. The Left parties leaders thanked the people for the big response to the programme today and declared that regional conventions will be held on these issues on 10th August at Barnala, 17th August at Amritsar and on 20th August at Jalandhar.
