Modi

P.B. Communiqué

The Polit Bureau noted the three trends, being pursued by the BJP government, that the Party had noted at its 21st Congress -- the aggressive pursuit of the neo-liberal policies of economic reforms; the relentless onslaughts on the secular democratic foundations of the Indian Republic by the sharpening of communal polarization and the movement towards an authoritarian rule through the erosion of democratic institutions – are all getting aggravated.

Days of Resistance Ahead: Prakash Karat

The CC discussed about current political situation. It noted that the three ordinances issued recently reveal the true character of the Modi government. Bowing to the demands of corporate lobby to dilute the Land Acquisition Act, it issued the ordinance bypassing the parliament. Similarly Coal Ordinance. The CPI(M) will join hands with all other political parties and organisations that are opposed to these ordinances and build a nationwide movement against these measures.

On Niti Aayog

The announcement of a NITI Aayog to replace the Planning Commission is a regressive step which will further push the country into a market-driven economy and privatization in all spheres at the expense of diluting even the present inadequate schemes aimed at improving people’s welfare.

Polit Bureau Communiqué

The Polit Bureau took serious note of the fact that the United States has sought to pressurize India on the Indian Patent law and Intellectual Property Rights policy. It also sought the dilution of the civil nuclear liability law of the country. Both these are reflected in the joint statement issued by Prime Minister Modi and President Obama. The joint statement announced the decision to set up an Intellectual Property Working Group. The US pharmaceutical companies have been demanding that India dilute its present patent regime which has utilised the flexibilities provided in the TRIPS agreement. It is this which helps to keep drug prices low for the people in India.

Central Committee Communique

The Central Committee noted that the Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal and the Law Minister Ashwani Kumar, were finally forced to resign after the Prime Minister and the Congress party resisted this demand while the parliament session was on. This has exposed the hypocrisy of the Congress which has blamed the opposition for the disruption of the parliamentary proceedings since the wrong-doing of the ministers became known.
