Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the inordinate delay on the part of Union ministries of Home and External Affairs and for resorting to dilatory tactics for initiating extradition proceedings against notorious gangster, Chhota Rajan, who is wanted in 17 criminal cases in Maharashtra. This was the consequence of the deliberate delay on the part of the NDA government.

It is amazing that such a notorious gangster was allowed to be freed, despite the Thai court giving the government three days time to approach the Thai government with a request for his extradition, for which the Mumbai police and the Maharashtra government has been pressing the Central government.

Now that the Thai police have re-arrested the gangster, it is upto the Union government and the concerned ministries to act fast and bring Chota Rajan to India to stand trial. Any delay will be unpardonable.

The Polit Bureau demands a high level probe into the inordinate delay in filing a request before the Thai authorities, that led to the release of the gangster in the first place. Those guilty of deliberately seeking to help the notorious gangster should not go scot-free.
