Kerala: Attack On Protesters

The UDF government unleashed unprecedented storm of violence inside and outside the Kerala Legislative Assembly, injuring hundreds of people including MLAs, in a shameful attempt to get the Budget for financial year 2015-2016 placed in the Assembly by tainted finance minister K M Mani. Throwing all legislative norms and decorum to the winds, K M Mani, who is accused of various corruption allegations, read out the first page of the Budget when the Speaker was not present on the dais. Mani was standing in the fourth row of treasury bench, guarded by UDF legislators and a large number watch and ward staff.

Protest Police Attack in Kerala

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the Chandy government’s use of police to brutally  attack LDF MLAs inside the assembly and against the public outside the assembly premises. LDF MLAs and the people were protesting demanding that Finance Minister, K.M. Mani should not place the budget as there is a vigilance probe against him which was instituted by the UDF government on allegations of corruption

Kerala: Occupy Assembly

MLAs of the Left Democratic Front in Kerala have started their sit- inside the Assembly. Thousands of people have started coming to Thiruvananthapuram to surround the Assembly outside. Thus inside and outside the Assembly there will be a huge mobilisation of people.

The CPI(M) and the Left parties have been protesting against the exorbitant rise in the price of unsubsidized gas cylinders and the ceiling on subsidized gas cylinders of nine per year. Protests against this price rise were held in various parts of the country. .....However, the oil companies continue to insist on Aadhar linkage for the supply of subsidized gas cylinders and payment of the full market price for the cylinder on delivery and reimbursement later. The Polit Bureau demands the scrapping of the Aadhar linkage and the delivery of the twelve cylinders at subsidized rates, as earlier.
