You have sanctioned Rs. 500 crores of central assistance, but this is grossly inadequate in the light of the extensive damage that has been caused. I would request you to increase this amount to Rs. 2000 crores and urge you to respond positively given the urgency that is warranted.
The Communists in India were the first victims of such central authoritarian misuse of constitutional provisions when the democratically elected government in Kerala was undemocratically dismissed in 1959. This has happened with Left-led governments repeatedly in Kerala and West Bengal subsequently.
CPI(M) General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury, is leaving today morning for China to attend a workshop commemorating the 200th Birthday of Karl Marx at the invitation of the Communist Party of China.
CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury will be travelling to United Kingdom in connection with some programmes that he would be attending there. He would be in the UK from May 2 to 6, 2018. The programmes he would be attending are listed here below:
CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury and Polit Bureau Member Brinda Karat met the Chief Election Commissioner this evening seeking his intervention to ensure that counting is resumed in three booths of 23-Dhanpur assembly constituency of Tripura from where Chief Minister Manik Sarkar is contesting. Counting was stopped following the BJP’s objections.
The CPI(M) has constantly and consistently maintained the need for clean electoral funding, and has been deeply concerned over the years as the system has become more skewed towards those with more money. Contesting elections has now become akin to a business enterprise, possible only for the wealthy. This, needs stringent reform.
CPI(M) General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury, has sent messages of greetings to the Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (UML) and the Chairman of the Communist Party of Nepal (Maoist Centre) on the victory of their alliance in the elections in Nepal.
The nature and circumstances of this case makes it necessary for a reference to be made to the Committee (in this case, the Privileges Committee of the Rajya Sabha, as defined in the Rules) for making a preliminary enquiry and submitting a report to the Hon’ble Chairman.
Sitaram Yechury, General Secretary of the Communist Party of India (Marxist), is proceeding to Beijing tomorrow morning at the invitation of the Communist Party of China. He would be participating in the high-level meeting convened by the CPC – “The CPC in Dialogue with World Political Parties” to be held at Beijing from November 30 to December 3, 2017.
