Arab Ambassadors meet Surjeet

Ambassadors and heads of missions of 14 Arab States headed by the Ambassador of Sudan and Dean of the Arab Diplomatic mission, Abdalmahmood Abdalhalim, met the CPI(M) General Secretary, Harkishan Singh Surjeet at the CPI(M) office, today.

Abdalmahmood Abdalhalim explained the situation in the region with reference to the struggle of the Palestinian people for self-determination. He said that the terms of the Oslo agreement are being violated by Israel. The Sudanese Ambassador categorically stated that despite the hardships being faced by them, the Palestinian people are determined to attain their objective of establishing an independent State of Palestine with East Jerusalem as its capital.

The Ambassador of Palestine in India, Khaled El Sheikh, pointed out that the intransigence of the Israeli government is leading to increasing unrest. He said that Israel refuses to concede the genuine demand of the Palestinian people.

CPI(M) General Secretary, Harkishan Singh Surjeet, reiterating solidarity with the just struggle of the Palestinian people said that the US administration will not pressurise Israel to even abide by the recently adopted UN resolution. Expressing happiness over the Arab worlds support to the Palestinian struggle, Com. Surjeet said that the CPI(M), while conducting a campaign and mobilising the democratic and patriotic forces, will try to impress upon the Indian government to send a parliamentary delegation to the affected areas to make an on the spot assessment of the situation.
