Danger of Fascism: Buddhadeb Bhattacharya

Former West Bengal Chief Minister and CPI(M) leader Buddhadeb Bhattacharjee on May 12 compared the RSS with fascist forces of Nazi Germany while speaking at a meeting in Kolkata to mark the 70th anniversary of the victory over fascism. He also said that like the Nazis, the ruling Trinamool Congress was a party which only believed in spreading lies and violence to establish its hegemony.
"The extreme rightwing forces have come to power joining hands with the corporates like it happened during the rise of Nazi forces in Germany. The RSS pays little heed to the Constitution. They are working for a Hindu rashtra. But they have roped in the corporates," Bhattacharjee said. CPI (M) Polit Bureau Member and state secretary Surjya Kanta Mishra and other senior leaders attended the programme. CPI(M) Kolkata District secretary Niranjan Chatterjee presided over the meeting.
Bhattacharjee also accused Trinamool of having fascist features. "Attack police stations, heckle people, slap false charges against them, and go on telling lies... These are the symptoms of fascist operations. Mamata Banerjee doesn't mind tying up with such forces - RSS or Chhatradhar Mahato. She once called the latter a patriot. The court has jailed him for waging war against state."
Terming the BJP-led central government as a nexus of RSS and corporates, the senior CPI(M) leader said RSS was trying to undermine the Constitution. "Just like Nazi Germany where various big corporates joined hands with the Nazis, the RSS has joined hands with the corporates. The RSS doesn't believe in the Constitution of our country. They believe in creating a Hindu Rastra. Will the RSS move away from its agenda? No, they will not. This is our biggest fear," Bhattacharjee said.
