Alliance Aircraft Crash

Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its shock at the crash of Alliance Air Flight No. CD7412 near Patna airport which was on its way to Patna from Calcutta resulting in the death of all 58 passengers and crew members. Since the crash occurred in a thickly populated area several residents have also reported to have lost their lives in the crash.

Since Indian Airlines transferred all its Boeing 737 aeroplanes to Alliance Air there has been neglect about maintainance of these aircrafts. These are very old planes which were to be phased out gradually. The government should immediately review the use of such planes.

The Polit Bureau expresses its heartfelt condolences at the death of the passengers and residents in the area.
