The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
On Lakshman Kadirgamar’s Assasination
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the brutal assassination of Sri Lankan Foreign Minister, Lakshman Kadirgamar.
A champion of ethnic harmony, Lakshnan Kadirgamar strove tirelessly for establishing everlasting peace in Sri Lanka. He was a vigorous campaigner for the betterment of relations between Sri Lanka and India. A distinguished statesman, Kadirgamar was known for his benevolence and warmth.
In his death India has lost a dear friend who strove to improve bilateral relations between India and Sri Lanka as well as amongst the Saarc countries. The PB of the CPI(M) conveys its heartfelt condolences to his family and to the people of Sri Lanka.
