Press Statement

The Polit Bureau of the communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

                                            On Terrorist Violence in Bangladesh

The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) expresses its deep concern at the large scale terrorist violence that has taken place in Bangladesh. This condemnable activity has been organised in all the sixty-four districts of the country targetting important locations like the airport, the courts of law, universities and the headquarters of the Awami League. A terrorist fundamentalist organisation, Jamaat-ul-Mujahedin Bangladesh has distributed leaflets in the places where explosions have occurred. This smacks of a deep-rooted conspiracy.

This ominous development in neighbouring Bangladesh calls for the unity of all secular democratic forces to thwart any designs of the reactionary fundamentalist forces.

The PB of the CPI(M) calls upon the government of India to be vigilant of any attempts by these fundamentalist forces to disturb peace and harmony in India.

The PB of the CPI(M) calls upon the people, particularly in the bordering states, to exercise utmost vigilance to maintain peace and harmony.
