Bengal Poll Violence

We appeal to all peace and democracy loving people in the country to raise their voice against this violence and murder of democracy by the TMC.  We urge all our units to protest this  cold-blooded murder of democracy and people’s right to vote urgently and to organize widespread protests by mobilizing the people.

On Tripura Election Verdict

The Polit Bureau thanks the 45 per cent of the voters who extended support to the CPI(M) and the Left Front. The Party will carefully examine the reasons for this electoral setback and take necessary remedial measures. The CPI(M) assures the people of Tripura that it will continue to champion the cause of all sections of the working people and uphold tribal-non tribal unity.

Use EVMs with VVPAT in Tripura: Sitaram

The President of the Tripura unit of BJP, Shri Biplab Deb, has cast aspersions on the objectivity and fairness of the Electronic Voting Machines. This comes in the background of the widespread apprehensions about EVMs. CPI(M) General Secretary Sitaram Yechury has written a letter to the Chief Election Commissioner and demanded among other things that in elections in Tripura EVMs  with Voter-Verified Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) should be used. Srinagar By Election

The miserably low turnout in the bye elections to the Srinagar parliamentary seat in the state of Jammu & Kashmir reduces the electoral process to a total farce. Further, it displays the deep degree of alienation of the people in the state of Jammu & Kashmir. The 7.14 per cent turn out in these elections is the lowest ever recorded in any Lok Sabha polls in the state.

TN: CPI(M) To Contest R K Nagar

CPIM contesting in RK Nagar By-election. Local committee secretary R.Loganathan (39) announced its candidate. CPI(M) state secratary G.Ramakrishnan, CC members T.K.Rangarajan and C.Sampath announced it to the press. "TN people need alternative to policies pursued by AIADMk, DMK, BJP and Congress. CPIM candidate will be the correct alternative choice before RK Nagar people" G.Ramakrishnan said.

He appealed Left and Democratic forces of the state to support CPI(m) candidate. He has asked CPI and VCK for support.
