Punjab: Terrorist Attack Condemned

The Punjab State Secretariat of the Communist Party Of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the terrorist attack at Dina Nagar police station killing seven persons including S. P. (Detective), Baljit Singh and three security personnel and three citizens and wounding 10 others. This dastardly and provocative attack was perpetrated by suspected Pakistan based terrorists. It could have resulted in a big loss of life, had their attack on Punjab Roadways bus carrying 72 passengers and 5 bombs placed on the railway track over a bridge near Dina Nagar were not foiled by driver of the bus, Mr. Nanak Chand and Rail Track Checker, Mr. Gurdial Saini.

Comrade Charan Singh Virdi, Secretary, Punjab State Committee, CPI(M) releasing the resolution of the State Secretariat to the press has further said that this horrible terrorist attack shows that the central and state intelligence agencies as well as the have failed in preventing the terrorist attack despite the possessing definite information about the security threat. The Secretariat has called upon the people to remain calm and vigilant and maintain peace and communal harmony in face of grave provocations.

The Secretariat expressed heartfelt sympathies with the bereaved families of the seven persons killed in this terrorist attack. It has demanded adequate relief and compensation to the victima families.

The Secretariat has also demanded from the central and state government firm steps to check recurrence of such terrorist attacks.
