Note on Some Political Developments
Adopted by the Central Committee
At its November 13-16, 2015 Meeting
Was Tipu Sultan a secular icon or was he a Muslim despot? Tipu Sultan was just another military ruler- imperialist in his ambitions, merciless in victory and benevolent in peacetime. He wasn’t anything Ashoka in his pre-Kalinga days wasn’t. Ideally, one should have left him at that. A few volumes in history.
This perversion of the concept of India as a secular democratic republic defined in our Constitution to a theocratic and supremacist one is what is straining to tear apart India today. To counter this grave threat, we need to understand what the RSS is and what its history has been.
The Central Committee finalized the Draft Report on Organisation to be sent to all State Committees. The Central Committee will meet on December 26 and finalise the report to be presented to the Plenum beginning December 27, 2015 at Kolkata. Massive preparations through state wide jathas and mass contact programmes are underway in West Bengal to make this plenum a big success.
The Left Parties will launch a nationwide campaign against the communal hate offensive spearheaded by the RSS and patronized by this BJP led government, from 1st to 6th December, 2015 through various forms of protest.
The CPI(M) congratulates the people of Bihar who have given a resounding defeat to the BJP alliance in the assembly elections. They have rejected the rank communal campaign conducted by the BJP, led by the Narendra Modi-Amit Shah duo with divisive issues like cow and beef and the bogey of reservations for minorities.
There is nothing new in this “truth”. All the charges against the Left raised ad nauseam in the past are repeated once again. The Left is accused of hegemonising the intellectual discourse in the country. The point of view of Left intellectuals has been persuasive and continues to be so because of the strength of its scholarship, reasoning and study of Indian history.
The CPI(M) condemns the raid conducted by Delhi Police at the Kerala House on the pretext of investigating whether beef was being served in the canteen. Everybody is aware that buffalo meat is allowed legally to be sold in Delhi and any preparation of such meat is not an illegality.
