The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
Firing in Kashmir Condemned
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly condemns the firing by the army on a group of people who were protesting at Haigam, Baramulla in Jammu & Kashmir. Five people were killed, including two women, due to this firing without any serious provocation. At a time, when efforts are being made to restore peace in the Valley, such a shocking incident is completely unjustifiable. The security forces must exercise restraint and caution so that the situation does not deteriorate further.
The Polit Bureau conveys its heartfelt condolences to the families of those who were killed in the firing.
