A meeting of the  four Left Parties  – CPI, CPI(M), CPM Punjab & CPI(M-L)  Liberation held on October 20 at Chandigarh to discuss the current situation in Punjab concluded that the desecration of Guru Granth Sahib is the handiwork of agencies who want to disturb peace in Punjab.

They blamed the Akali-BJP government  for the fast deteriorating situation in Punjab  and held it responsible for the inept manner in which it was handled. The Left Parties stressed that nobody should try to take political mileage out of this situation, rather all political forces, intellectuals and common people should make efforts to maintain peace and communal harmony.

Expressing serious concern over the clashes between protestors and shopkeepers at Jalandhar on October 19, the Left Parties appealed for restraint in such situation against designs of the trouble makers and to maintain peace and communal harmony.

Punjab is facing a serious economic crisis and the peasantry, agricultural workers and all the toiling people are reeling under price rise, unemployment, debts and destruction of crops. When the people are agitating against this, the conspirators have diverted the situation affecting peace and communal harmony.  The Left parties resolved to fight for maintaining peace and communal harmony and at the same time will continue their struggles for the genuine and rightful demands of the peasantry, agricultural workers, employees and workers.

The Left Parties decided to organize a Peace March at Jalandhar on   6th November, 2015  coinciding with the holding a convention on  a 15 Point Demands charter of the Left Parties at Deshbhagat Yaadgar hall.
