The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) strongly denounces the blandishments issued by USA, through the Deputy National Security Adviser for International Economics, warning India of “consequences” if it seeks to circumvent US sanctions against Russia and work out a discounted energy deal with Moscow. The pointed reference was to dissuade India from entering into any payment schedules bypassing the US dollar i.e. the Rupee-Rouble route.
The Modi government must now realise the perils of joining a strategic military alliance with the USA like the QUAD that opened the floodgates for blackmail and pressures. The government of India must uphold the supreme national interest of India in this crisis and not capitulate to such US pressures.
