The Polit Bureau of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has issued the following statement:

The Polit Bureau condemns the hate speech made by BJP MLA Sangeet Som in Bishada Village in Dadri yesterday. This village was witness to the gruesome and pre-planned mufder of Mohammad Akhlaq by a communal mob on the night of September 27. The relevant provisions of the law should be invoked against Som and he should be arrested immediately.

Invoking the Muzaffarnager communal riots of 2013 Sangeet Som threatened the minority community with “retaliation”. While brazenly justifying the murder of Aklaq he asserted that all those arrested were “innocent” and demanded their release.

Som has been booked in several cases for his role in the communal violence unleashed by the BJP/RSS in Muzaffarnagar in 2013. Different Hindutva outfits have been conducting a sustained and virulent communal campaign against the minorities, especially in West Uttar Pradesh.

The U.P government must act firmly against all those indulging in communal propaganda.
