The Himachal Pradesh state secretariat of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) has strongly condemned the arrest of Anil Mankotia who was the CPI(M) candidate from the Hamirpur assembly segment. The Party has sought the immediate intervention of the chief minister who also happens to be the home Minister of the state. The party has stated, it is because of the high handedness of the BJP and its youth morcha comprising of hoodlums who firstly beat up Anil Mankotia and then through a frivolous complaint lodged him in the police lock up. The party has warned the Hamirpur district police to not to be cowed down and not to blindly follow the dictates of BJP and work in an objective manner. It is surprising that non bailable sections have been mounted on Mankotia whereas the miscreants have been allowed to roam freely. The accused happens to be the leaders of BJYM and HPCA.
The State Committee said that it is the tirade against corruption and the land grabbing done at the behest of HPCA that has invited the ire of BJP. The state wide campaign led by the party against the sell out of state and large scale wrongdoings by the HPCA has exposed the sinister designs of both the BJP and its various fronts including the HPCA which virtually has been converted into a fiefdom of one family. The Party has charged the BJP of vandalism and spreading terror tactics in Hamirpur region. The State Committee has further stated this will not deter the CPI(M) from raising its voice against rampant corruption and exposing the hidden agenda of the BJP. The Party has decided to expose this dastardly act in the state and will organize protest demonstrations to force the state government to take appropriate action against the guilty.
