Jharkhand: Left Leaders Visit Khunti

October 24, 2016

A delegation of leaders of the Left parties visited Saiki village of Murhu Block under Khunti District, where police fired indiscriminately on tribals waiting for vehicles to go to Ranchi to participate in a mass meeting organised by 42 tribal organizations on October 22,2016.

The left party delegation met the villagers and family members of Abraham Munda who was killed in the police firing.

The villagers claimed that police fired on them without any warning. They contradicted the story propagated by the Police administration about a scuffle which lead to the firing.

The Left parties have demanded a Judicial enquiry headed by sitting judge of High Court, lodging of FIR U/S 302 for premeditated murder against those responsible.

The leaders observed that the attempt to stop the tribals from peacefully participating in a rally at Ranchi is an attempt to curb fundamental constitutional rights of the people.

The rally was organised by different tribal organizations demanding withdrawal of proposed ordinances for amendment of CNT & SPT Acts, proper residential policy & strict implementation of land acquisition Act 2013.

The delegation consisted of G.K.Baksi State Secretary, Rajendra Singh Munda, Sudhir Das members of State Secretariat and Birendra Kumar of CPI(M), Janardan Prasad State Secretary of CPI(ML) and Siddheshwar Singh of SUCI (C).
