Left march against BJP ruckus

September 27, 2016

BJYM, youth wing of BJP attempted to create a ruckus in Kolkata on Tuesday with the so called ‘march to Alimuddin Street’, CPI(M) state committee office. They were ‘protesting’ comments by CPI(M) Polit Bureau member and Tripura Chief Minister Manik Sarkar in a function in Tripura. Sarkar criticized the foreign policy of Modi government and proposed more friendly economic and trade relations with India’s immediate neighbors. That was interpreted as ‘anti-national’ by RSS-BJP and they threatened to storm CPI(M) office.

However, less than 100 people actually participated in the so called march. It walked 200 meters and police stopped them. BJYM activists raised slogans and returned back.

Meanwhile, hundreads of Left activists, mainly students and youth gathered in Alimuddin Street and in the vicinity. They were ready to defend CPI(M) office in any eventuality. Left activists brought out a rally at afternoon and marched in AJC Bose Road, raising slogans of national integrity, against terrorism and communal designs, against war mongering. The march of the youth clearly stated that no amount of browbeating can force Left forces from taking firm and pro-people stand.
