On the occasion of Ganashakti completing 48 years on January 3, member of the Polit Bureau of CPI(M) Buddhadeb Bhattacharya termed the rise of Modi with blood on his hands and the possible alliance of Mamata Banerjee with these forces, as an imminent danger.

He said that it is an attack on the modern traditions of Bengal. Further, he said that the Left has always fought the RSS and all its manifestations with full force of conviction. He reasoned that Mamata has been a part of the BJP alliance twice and they have worked together in recent polls, albeit informally.

Moreover, Buddhadeb Bhattacharya lamented the growing regression of the state’s economic position as there is no new investment coming, rather even the existing companies have left the state. The present government is presiding over colossal misuse of public funds while the education and health infrastructure are breaking down, he said.

The ceremony was presided over by the editor of Ganashakti Narayan Datta who slammed the attacks on the press, especially Ganashakti, and the unconstitutional censorship imposed by the Mamata government.
