The Left Parties congratulate the electorate of Bihar for their support to the Mahagathbandhan, including the candidates of the Left parties, which contributed to the Mahagathbandhan putting up a spirited contest in the election against the ruling BJP-JD(U) and its government.
Report on Current Developments, Adopted at the Central Committee Meeting, October 30-31, 2020
We are herewith releasing the text of the letter addressed to the Prime Minister Narendra Modi by CPI(M) General Secretary, Sitaram Yechury, on the grave health emergency with the surging Covid-19 pandemic, in the Andaman & Nicobar Islands and the necessity to take urgent measures to protect lives and provide relief to people.
The announcements made by the Prime Minister yesterday are totally inadequate to meet the crisis of survival and livelihood being faced by crores of our people.
The PB urges upon the Modi government to draw proper lessons from this obnoxious behaviour of US imperialism. Embracing USA as the top most priority cannot provide any help or relief to the Indian people in strengthening the struggle against the pandemic
Trump’s threat of retaliation for easing restrictions on the export of vital generic drugs including Hydroxychloroquine is a plain attempt at arm twisting. The government’s capitulation to this brazen blackmail undermines the vital concerns in our battle against the viral pandemic. This also signals yet another surrender to US interests.
This is nothing but an open violation by the Prime Minister himself of the 21-day lockdown that he himself announced and an open encouragement to the ruling party do so.
The Polit Bureau of the CPI(M) hails the protest this visit of US President Trump. The BJP government must heed this voice of the people and not succumb to US pressures.
Report on Certain Political Developments
(Adopted at the Central Committee Meeting
October 2-4, 2019, New Delhi)
Global Capitalist Crisis
The global capitalist economy continues to be sluggish. There are no signs of any meaningful recovery since the global financial meltdown and the consequent economic crisis that began in 2008.
We have brought similar incidents of his violations to your notice earlier in the past too. The Commission, however, seems to think that Shri Modi and Shri Amit Shah are above the electoral process and the Model code of conduct does not apply to them. This has been noted by myriad cartoonists, newspaper editorials and commentators. I hope that the Election Commission will now prove them wrong and initiate prompt and suitable action against Shri Modi.
