Left front Chairperson and CPI(M) state secretary Biman Basu, at a ‘Meet the Press’ program at Kolkata on July 9 criticized the West Bengal Chief Minister, Ms. Mamata Banerjee for her intimidating attitude and for not respecting the independence of the State Election Commission. “The way the Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is bullying the State Election Commission, it appears that there is nothing called democracy and the Constitution” he said.
The Chief Minister is opposing the State Election Commission and engaging herself in personal attacks through comments against the Commissioner after the State Government was criticized by the Supreme Court.
