Surjya Kanta Mishra, leader of the opposition in the West Bengal assembly wondered why the Shyamal Sen Commission report on the Saradha scam was not being made public. Speaking at a huge public meeting in Kolkata on December 2, Mishra who is also a Member of the CPI(M) Polit Bureau said he would be seeking an appointment with the Prime Minister to express displeasure about delay in the Sardha chit fund scam probe.
Left Front Chairman and CPI(M) Polit Bureau Member, Biman Basu demanded that CBI should interrogate the Chief Minister as one of the two TMC MPs arrested in connection with the scam has publicly said about the involvement of the Chief Minister. She should also be punished if found guilty, Basu added.
A large number of people attended the rally called by the Left Front District Committee of Kolkata. Former Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya was also present at the starting point of the rally. The effigy of Mamata Banerjee, who has now turned into the symbol of Saradha, was burnt at the conclusion of the rally.
