The 5th Conference of the Chhattisgarh State Committee of the CPI(M)was held at Com. Samar Mukherjee Nagar, Com. R Umanath Manch (Bhilai Steel City) from 15th to 17th March,2015. Com Hannan Mollah, Central Secretariat member of the party inaugurated the conference. A colourful, impressive rally was taken out in the afternoon which culminated in a public meeting at Capt. Laxmi Sahgal Manch (open air theatre). The main speaker at the public meeting was Com. Brinda Karat, Polit Bureau member of CPI(M). Central Secretariat members Com. Hannan Mollah and Com. Jogendra Sharma also addressed the gathering, apart from the Chhattisgarh state secretary Com. M.K. Nandy. Com. B. Sanyal, state secretariat member presided over the meeting.
A three member presidium consisting of Comrades B.Sanyal,Jitendra singh Sodhi and Anjana Babar presided over the conference. The delegates’ session started in the evening. Com. Badal Saroj, secretary of the MP State committee of the party greeted the delegates in the session. The political organizational report of the state committee was placed before the house on 16th March by Com. M.K. Nandy. 53 delegates participated in the lively debate showing real concerns about the need for the Party’s all round growth to meet the challenges of the times. After threadbare discussion, the report was adopted unanimously.
The conference elected a 25-member state committee(keeping one seat vacant). The state committee elected an 8-member secretariat with Com. Sanjay Parate as its secretary. The other members of the secretariat are: Comrades B.Sanyal, M.K.Nandy, Dharmaraj Mahapatra, Vakil Bharti, Jitendra Singh Sodi, Bal Singh and A.K.Lal.
The conference also elected 5 delegates for the 21st Party Congress. They are: Comrades Sanjay Parate, M.K.Nandy, R.B.Bharti, Dharmaraj Mahapatra and A.K.Lal. Com.Jitendra Singh Sodi is the alternate delegate.
The conference concluded with a speech by Com. Jogendra Sharma, central secretariat member of the party. The conference came to an end with a clarion call to the delegates to leave no stone unturned in ensuring that the Chhattisgarh unit of CPI(M) becomes a prominent feature of the political map of the state, and the state party becomes an important contingent of the all India party.
