A CPI(M) delegation met the Chief Minister of Delhi Shri Arvind Kejriwal and discussed some immediate and urgent issues. The delegation led by Brinda Karat comprised of State Secretary K.M.Tiwari, and Secretariat members Asha Sharma, Anurag Saxena, Ravindranathan, Neelgagan Singh and Maya.
The delegation pointed out disturbing features in some areas in South, North and East Delhi where some platforms of Ramlila celebrations were being misused to promote communal slogans. It asked for political vigilance. The Chief Minister said he was aware of such efforts and would take appropriate action.
The Chief Minister gave a categorical assurance on the issue of food security. He said his Government would ensure that pulses would be distributed at subsidized prices through ration shops. He also assured that he would consider the delegation demand for giving minimum of 35 kg per family instead of the present reduced allocations of food grains.
The delegation pointed out its disagreement with the Government proposal to reduce the age of juveniles in cases of sexual assault accusations. It asked for implementation of the Verma commission recommendations.
The Chief Minister also assured that in villages pointed out by the delegation where compensation for crop loss has not been given, will be given immediately.
