Comrade EK Nayanar Memorial Academy and Museum was inaugurated in his native place Kannur, Kerala on 19th May. Party General Secretary Com. Sitaram Yechury inaugurated the Nayanar Academy. CM Pinarayi Vijayan inaugurated the Museum in the academy.Party State Secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan presided over the function.
Comrade Yechury said: “Since Nayanar was a true revolutionary and people’s leader, the academy is a befitting tribute to his memory.” Comrade Yechury continued: “Amit Shah says Kerala is their next target. Why is it Kerala? Because, in Kerala, the communists are in power. If the communists in Kerala are defeated, they think, they can conquer the rest easily, as it is the communists who are posing a threat to the BJP by having an alternative ideology to present before the people.”
A lifelike statue of Comrade Nayanar was also unveiled in the function. Thousands of people participated. The museum is the first of its kind in India dedicated to depicting the history of the Communist party in India.
The party has set up a library in the academy which will be useful for party workers and for the public. The academy also will also have the facility to conduct cultural programmes and other shows in its open-air auditorium. The 45,000sq.ft. building is set on three floors.
