CPI(M) State Secretariat of Jharkhand has greeted the people of Jharkhand for making the State-wide Bandh, on May 4, 2015, against anti-people Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill of the Narendra Modi Government a historical success.
The Bandh was unprecedented and total with participation of people from all cross-sections of the state, in spite of promulgation of prohibitory orders and imposition of Section-144 of CrPC by the Jharkhand government. Defeating all prohibitory orders, huge number of people came out on the streets spontaneously.
The Bandh was called by the Left parties CPI(M), CPI, Marxist Co-ordination Committee, AIFB, RSP, SUCI(C) and Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, RJD, JD(U), Samajwadi Party and Jharkhand Janadhikar Manch. Different mass organizations also supported the bandh.
National Highways & Road blockades were organized at least in 25 places in rural areas of Ranchi District and urban areas of Bokaro Steel City, Dhanbad, Jamshedpur and other industrial places, as per the current reports available at the Centre. Leaders and activists of All India Kisan Sabha organized road blockades in different areas. Rajdhani Express was detained at Dhanbad Railway Station. Several trains were detained at Jamtara, Deoghar and Gomia railway stations. Surface Transport in the state came to a standstill.
A militant and colorful procession started from CPI (M) State Office which marched towards Albert Ekka Chowk covering main thoroughfares of the city. The procession was led by G.K. Baksi (State Secretary), Prakash Viplav, Ramchandra Thakur, Surjit Sinha, D.D. Ramanandan, Sudhir Kumar Das,( Members of the state Secretariat) Sukhnath Lohra, Subhash Munda, Amit Roy, R.P Singh, Samir Dass (State Committee Members).
At the call of CITU, hundreds of workers came out in the streets in support of the Bandh. Participation of large number of construction workers in the leadership of Manju Munda, Nitu Oraon, and Mahesh Munda is noteworthy. Bina Linda and Renu Prakash led women activists of AIDWA.
More than 300 leaders and activists of CPI (M) were arrested during the bandh and were released afterwards.
Leaders of CPI, Bhuneswar Mehta , K.D.Singh, Babulal Marandi former chief minister and Chairman of Jharkhand Vikas Morcha, Pradip Yadav (MLA) including leaders of other constituents with their activists marched on the roads. Leaders of all the convening parties addressed people at Albert Ekka Chowk.
Jharkhand is the worst hit state of this anti-people Land Acquisition (Amendment) Bill and people of Jharkhand have very rightly pioneered the heightening of strong protest action in form of this historical bandh, sending a strong message to the Narendra Modi Government that this bill would never be accepted and more intensive movements will be organized in the future.
