The Punjab State Committee of the CPI(M) has strongly condemned the cold blooded murder of two young dalit brothers at Jamalpur in Ludhiana district.
Harinder Singh (25 ) and Jatinder Singh (24 ) were shot dead on September 27, 2014. While the police had initially termed the incident as an encounter, as events unfolded the Punjab Police had to admit that it was a case of murder. The autopsy report revealed that the youth were shot in the head from close range. The police later said that five shots were fired from a .32 pistol belonging to Shromani Akali Dal leader Gurjeet Singh who is the husband of Rajwinder Kaur, Sarpanch of village Takhran Khokhran.
Comrade Charan Singh Virdhi Secretary of the Punjab State Committee said that the incident negates the tall claims made by the Badal Government about the law and order situation in the state. Virdhi added that such incidents will further worsen the already deteriorating law and order situation in the state. The Party has demanded a comprehensive judicial inquiry into the incident.
