The Left Democratic Front (LDF) in Kerala has in its manifesto for the local body elections released in Thiruvananthapuram today promised to provide basic services such as water and electricity for all besides strengthening the health and educational facilities.
Addressing reporters on the occassion, LDF convener Vaikom Viswan said that the main stress is to ensure overall development of the state through local bodies. The LDF had invited suggestions both online and offline from the public, an exercise in which thousands of people contributed, which were utilised while drafting the manifesto. Drop-boxes were set up in different parts of the state in which people dropped their suggestions.
The major suggestions related to each sector were compiled by experts in the respective fields, and finalized by respective local level committees. Crowd-sourcing of the manifesto was a unique method and widely welcomed by the people. LDF would focus on good governance marked by corruption-free and effective administration and people’s participation, he said.
