Comrades Bant Singh Brar, Charan Singh Virdi, Vijay Misra, Mangat Ram Pasla, Gurmit Singh Bakhtupur, Bhupinder Samber, Balvbir Singh Jadla while speaking on the occasion paid glowing tributes to the martyrs. The speakers while addressing the conference stated that the people are disappointed with the Modi-led BJP government at the centre and the Akali-BJP government in Punjab. The promises made by Mr. Modi during the election campaign like Achhe Din (good days), control over price rise, abolition of unemployment , Rs 15 lakh in accounts of every citizen from recovered black money, development and cooperation of everyone have just proved to be mere slogans. They alleged that despite drastic reduction of crude oil in international market, the govt. did not allow the benefit to percolate down to the common man, reduction in welfare schemes and health and education speaks of the anti-poor and pro-corporate attitude of the Modi government. The deficit budget presented by the Punjab Finance Minister indicates that despite being an election related year, the government could not extend any benefits to the people. The debt of Punjab has increased from 1.24 lakh crores to 1.38 lakh crores. The speakers severely condemned the divisive politics, fascist tendencies of the Modi government which is implementing the communal agenda of the RSS, its mentor. They further alleged that the RSS, which has no role in freedom struggle and who did not recognize the tricolor for 53 years, is now trying to distribute certificates of patriotism.
