CPI (M) state Secretary Pinarayi Vijayan demanded that the government stop the witch hunt of CPI (M) workers in the name of the stone pelting incident on Chief Minister Oommen Chandy at Kannur. In a press conference at Thiruvananthapuram, Pinarayi also demanded the government enquire the incident thoroughly to find out the real culprits.
He denied that the LDF has any role in the incident. We know such an incident in the present context will definitely help Chief Minister who has been isolated from the people after series of corruption charges leveled against him. The proof on the involvement of Chief Minister and his office in the solar scam is being becoming more clear day by day.
Peaceful protests are being launched by LDF against Oommen Chandy. No untoward incident had occurred when nearly one lakh workers of LDF besieged the secretariat in August. The whole world witnessed these peaceful demonstrations. LDF never got provoked when the police hurled grenade on the Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan during a protest on Solar Scam.
The intelligence bureau had already alerted the police that intruders may create problems in the peaceful demonstrations of the LDF. The grand siege called off after the state government declared it would order a judicial probe into the Solar Panel Scam. LDF resumed the protest as the Chief Minister backtracked from the promise. No sitting judge was appointed for the probe. The LDF has decided to intensify the struggle in this context.
Pinarayi warned that the witch hunt on CPI (M) will boomerang on the UDF. The real culprits who should be exposed, Pinarayi added.
