To mark the 50th anniversary of the CPI(M) a series of four booklets were released by the Tripura State Committee of the Party on October 1, 2014. The booklets were released by Central Committee member Badal Choudhury, CPI(M) state secretariat member Narayan Kar, PCM Matilal Sarkar and Satyabrata Bhattacharya.
The first booklet is a Bengali translation of the speech delivered by comrade M. Basavapunnaiah whose birth centenary is being observed this year, at the 7th Party Congress at Kolkata presenting the draft programme of CPI(M). The second booklet is a travelogue named Abismoroniyo Bhromon Kahini written by Comrade Muzaffar Ahmad. The third an Ek Atuloniyo Communist (An unparallel communist) is a tribute to Comrade Jyoti Basu, while the fourth is titled Hindutwa Bonam Dhormoniropekkhota (Hindutva versus Secularism).
Speaking on the occasion, State Secretary Bijan Dhar thanked the education sub committee of the Party state committee for taking the initiative for their publication. He said that the education sub committee felt that voluminous and costly books cannot be afforded by the common workers and supporters of the party and mass movements and hence the decision to bring out such small booklets was taken. He expressed the hope that they will help to strengthen the ideological understanding of the cadres and workers of the party and provide them with a perceptive of the glorious past of the Party.
